God’s Knights

Riding off into the sunset as, Jesus the knight in shining armor is not a vision most men can relate to or even want to imagine.  They want to be the knight.  They want to be the protector.  As our churches keep focusing on Jesus being the lover of our soul it seems that we are pushing our men further from God’s love and into the corner of just His servant.  I think we need to reexamine what God’s love and Jesus sacrifice looks like for our men.

For Husband’s God calls men to love their wives as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her to make her holy and blameless (Ephesians 5:25&26).  Could it be then when we read about the intimacy that God wants to have with each of us that women are God’s bride, but men are not.  God still wants to know them intimately, but the reflection of Him is different. It would be the reflection of God as the Bridegroom.  That is a different kind of intimacy.  One that will help men identify in Christ who they were created to be. For we are all created in the image of God, but that image is different for everyone. Men by nature are warriors, conquerors, solvers, doers, and protectors.  I don’t think God wants men to feel emasculated by relating themselves to God as His bride, but as His son.  His son who inherits the throne, the country, and the family (Matthew25:34).  The son who looks up to, admires, and aspires to be like his Father.

So women raise your sons as little men, men of God’s Kingdom who will inherit the responsibilities of the Kingdom.  The duty of keeping it safe, keeping it prosperous, and guarding it with His jealous and righteous eye.  Wives respect and honor your husbands as they seek to live this role out in your families.  Be the strong confident Queen next to your King who inherited the most precious throne!

Matthew25:34 “Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world

Epesians 5:25-27 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself up for her, 26so that He might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, 27that He might present to Himself the church in all her glory, having no spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that she would be holy and blameless.
